Circa sometime in the 1970s, this is an original pencil, ink, and watercolor costume study for the Golden Horseshoe Revue designed by Jack Muhs. Betty Taylor was the show's "Slue Foot Sue" from 1956 to 1987. Quite a run!
I've seen this a couple of times, but this is the first one I've seen that works. It's advertised as a 1960s Disneyland "Haunted House" bank, so I assume they mean it's the Haunted Mansion. What I'm not so clear on is if it was sold at the park as a Haunted Mansion attraction souvenir, or if it was a "Disneyland" toy sold in regular stores. Since it doesn't really look like the Haunted Mansion (where are the columns?) I'm guessing it was the latter.
I love that Disneyland has a "secret" club; there are so many things about Disneyland that are wonderful and mysterious. I had the good fortune to go to Club 33 several years ago, and it was fabulous... though I would say a lot of its fabulousness stemmed from the fact it's so very exclusive.
This ornament was only made available to the diners at Club 33; it is a representation of the harpsichord that Lillian Disney picked out herself for a centerpiece of the club. With all the Club 33 napkins, pens, and pins on eBay, it's nice to see a more interesting souvenir.
I love this! It's a vintage charm from Disneyland circa 1955 (though the seller isn't completely sure about that). It's still in its original packaging which even has the price tag still attached - 10 cents!
You may have to pay a little more than that now, though.
There used to be an Upjohn Pharmacy on Main Street where New Century Timepieces is now. You could actually buy vitamins and stuff there (seems odd now, but Main Street used to represent a real working Main Street, not just a place to buy plush), and this is a rare survivor of that store.
I'm not sure what the point of a Disneyland hard hat is, unless it was used to promote the construction of Disneyland (I seem to remember they did that in the late '90s with the new Tomorrowland construction), but this thing is pretty sweet. I especially like the Tomorrowland logo (click through to see more photos).
Again with the Disneyland artifacts! Oh how I love thee, artifacts... This is a huge metal sign that hung in Disneyland during the 50th anniversary celebration. It says it's a "Mickey icon," but I'm not sure where the Mickey comes into play, unless it used to have ears or something. The "ribbon" is broken on one end and it weighs 45 pounds (which means the shipping is on the pricey side). Nevertheless, pretty darn cool.
I'm increasingly fascinated by the Disneyland Art Corner. I understand stuff that came out of this magical store is becoming more collectible, so I'm putting this postcard up for your perusal. Love the artwork, and the seller neglected to put "Art Corner" in the title or description, so you may have less competition for it.
"Disneyland Finds" is a blog devoted to finding you interesting Disneyland collectibles and memorabilia. I can't buy this stuff... No room! But you can. More...
Why...?
"Why doesn't your description match the item shown?" or "Why is there no item?" The eBay widget only lasts for 90 days, then defaults to a similar item. After the original listing expires, it may show something that's sort of like what I originally posted, or it may not show anything at all. To be safe, please read the seller's description before bidding!
